CAPACITY PLANNING

The ABBASOFT Technologies Capacity Planning module calculates shop floor loads based on open work orders and current shop loads. Base capacities are established in the work center file. The capacity planning module allows forward finite and backward infinite scheduling, providing shop loading as well as calculated delivery dates. Forward and backward scheduling from a critical work center is also available. The Capacity Planning module takes input from the Manufacturing (Job Cost), Production Control, Project Management, Router Control, and Shop Floor Control modules. The Order Processing module is also recommended for optimal system operation.

KEY BENEFITS

  • Define capacity for direct labor and resources to insure proper distribution.
  • Calculate requirements plan to provide for resource demands.
  • Analyze overloads and shortages to maximize capacity usage.

Capacity Planning Features

Operation adjustments can be made including set-up, run, and move times by individual product.

Adjustments to work centers or operation values are automatically accessible to associated Routers.

  • Work Center Rate (Dollars).
  • Outside Processing Costs.
  • Number or shifts per day.
  • Work Center rapacity allows new shop loads calculated by work center.

Forward Explosion places work order ship dates in the future while Backward Explosion holds ship dates firm, showing work center overloads.

Explosion results and daily shop schedules are available through detailed reports that display to the terminal or printer.

The explosion routines perform the actual calculations and provide:

  • New projected ship dates for work orders
  • Shop overloads
  • User-determined adjustments

And Maintain...

  • Sales order and line item numbers
  • Vendor number for outside processing
  • Work Order priority code

Forward and Backward Scheduling Features

  • Work Center unit of measure maintained
  • Second capacity (pounds) filed for Work Center
  • User-specified override of order promised date with reason
  • Roll and record promise date transaction
  • Display firm promised dates exceed capacity
  • User prompt for finished part lot or serial number

Shop Load Schedule

  • Displays Work Center unit of measure and PPSU (pieces per set-up)
  • Report Work Center by day or week
  • Forward time phase schedule chart for one work order throughout the shop floor
  • Backward bar chart schedule for Work Center capacity in days or weeks

Flag Selectable Controls

  • Default Hours for Work Center Maximums
  • Calculations based on Open Quantities or Status
  • Auto Rescheduling of Past Due Forward Status Dates
  • Adjust Work Order Dates from Critical Work Centers

Reports

Daily Shop Schedule: Lists user-selectable information fields for the daily schedule by warehouse, work center, department, or part number.
Scheduled Completion Dates: Lists work orders by status and reschedule code. Includes a comparison of original due dates and capacity planning forward reschedule dates.
Work Center Load: Represents the capacity to which a selected work center will be filled over the next eight weeks in bar chart format.
Forward/Backward Explosion: Four separate explosion reports allow the user to select forward or backward explosion of production schedules for specified date ranges, warehouses, supervisors, work centers, and work orders. These reports display in a graphical format.
